SII Smart Label Printer 450

The Smart Label Printer 450 is a small stand alone printer of relatively small dimensions of 117 x 158 x 161mm (WxHxW) which means due to its tiny footprint, it can fit unobtrusively tucked away on most desks.

Just like the 430 model before it, it is specifically designed to print labels in a variety of formats however the 450 can print labels at a rate of 1 per second and at a higher resolution.

It took me a matter of minutes to complete the physical set up of getting it out of the box and connecting it to my PC via a USB cable. The soft setup of inserting the driver disc, installing the software on my PC, filling in the registration details and powering up the device was also a simple straight forward hassle free procedure.

All of the drivers, software and relevant leads, power supply and 1 reel of labels come with the printer. The software called 'Smart Label' that comes with the device is easy to use, even by beginners. I especially liked the smart capture utility which sits in your toolbar and allows highlighted text in applications such as Word and Outlook to be transferred straight into the 'Smart Label' software with only a click of the mouse.

The software supplied allows you to print on a variety of different label formats either in landscape or portrait mode and using the templates supplied you can easily produce address labels, disk labels, I.D. or name badges, bar code label etc, all at the desired label size.

With the help of the user friendly software you can include images and graphics such as company logos, photos or 'smart captured' text as previously mentioned.

The Smart Label 450 takes literally a second to print out the label without any noticeable lag or printer set up time, the text on the label is crisp and precise. The label is centred and perfectly reproduced every time with a mono 300 dpi resolution.

The Smart Label 450 eliminates the need to buy expensive labels to use in your traditional desktop printer, or the trouble to set up that printer in the desired format to print those labels, this saves money, time and mess.

The Smart Label Printer due to its thermal heat printing eliminates the need for inks or toners and ensures no drying time, smudging, mess or off centred badly labelled disasters.

The 450 model is top of the range and its resolution is better than the versions before it. A great feature of the 450 is the ability it has to print bar codes. The great thing about bar codes is that they can be read by a scanner and can automatically link and bring up associated information on your PC. This gives you numerous applications, the Smart Label Printer can print out bar codes in both traditional 1D and 2D formats using the standard bar code formats.

A 1D bar code is the type you get at the supermarket, on most of your food and reads from one end to the other. A 2D barcode reads downwards as well as across, giving you the advantage of the ability to add more information or data within the barcode itself.

The Smart Label Printer is user friendly has a range of features it can even be shared across a windows network via its network cable. I wouldn't hesitate to use it at work for the mass production of hundreds of labels when we are bulk mailing patients.

The 450 model is the best yet, it does what it says it does really well, its Mac compatible, silent, it doesn't smudge or smell and it has a 3 year manufacturer's warranty.

Best Wishes,
